Isn't she (he) lovely?

The Princess found this little fellow on the driveway this morning.

Isn't she (he?) so cute?

We're not sure, but we think it is a Frilled Neck Lizard.

We have an adult one that lives down in the creek paddock and it's stance is the same as this little one's.

We couldn't see any frills on this one, but if you look at the last photo you'll see something that looks like the beginnings of the frill.  That's what we think, anyway.

What do you think?

Look at how tiny she/he is!
Yeah!  Work that camera, baby!

Now, stare off into the distance, acting cool.

  1. Great photos! Looks like she (he) could be a young frilled neck lizard. You are so lucky to have one in your backyard. No matter whether she (he) is a frilled neck lizard or not he (she) is very cute! Wish i had one in my backyard too.

  2. thanks, sharon. i've done some digging around on the internet and i don't think it is a frilly. there's something called a two lined dragon and there's two types of it but parts of it look slightly different to the ones in the jcu picture. i've sent the pics to the museum for id'ing, so we'll see what they say. we've also got a big monitor that hangs around the street but he's known to raid the chook yards for eggs, so i'm keeping an eye on him. we've also got the 4 owls and the sea eagle and wallabies and hawks and lots more. it's much better than living in the 'burbs!
